Prior to this, Georgia held executive and leadership roles across major private hospitals, including Ringwood Private Hospital the Valley Private Hospital, Knox Private Hospital, and Southeastern Private Hospital. As Director of Clinical Services and Deputy Director of Nursing, she successfully led teams in delivering exceptional patient outcomes, optimising resource management, and implementing effective workforce strategies. Earlier in her career, Georgia also served as a Nurse Unit Manager at The Royal Children’s Hospital, reinforcing her commitment to patient-centred care.
A highly effective communicator and relationship builder, Georgia is passionate about engaging with teams, patients, and stakeholders to ensure optimal healthcare experiences. Her ability to influence and inspire others has been a defining strength throughout her career, making them a trusted leader in the healthcare industry.
Holding a Bachelor of Applied Science in Nursing from Monash University and additional qualifications in immunisation and preventative healthcare, Georgia remains dedicated to advancing the field through strategic leadership, patient advocacy, and continuous learning.

Values in Workplace Culture
Professor Sabe Sabesan, is the Clinical Dean of the Townsville Regional Medical Training network incorporating the Townsville Hospital and Health Services and the Townsville Clinical School of the James Cook University and the director of the department of Medical oncology at the Townsville Cancer Centre, Townsville Hospital.
The Professor recently wrote, “Workforce wellness and engagement have become buzzwords in healthcare settings since there is an intimate relationship between staff wellbeing and performance of the healthcare system. Wellness initiatives such as wellness champions and wellness committees have been set up in response to emerging workforce mental health issues. These are largely reactive rather than being proactive in addressing or preventing the root cause of mental health issues.”

Unleashing the potential of Paramedic skills and knowledge
According to a prominent paramedicine academic and researcher, paramedics have the potential to provide much-needed care in the community, changing the traditional healthcare model. Research points to paramedics having a wider healthcare workforce impact based on their ability to identify and fix problems 24/7.
Dr. Brendan Shannon is Head of Postgraduate Programs in the Department of Paramedicine at Monash University and a member of The Australasian College of Paramedicine. His interests including refining healthcare models, to ensure underserved communities receive requisite care. These alternative care pathways, like outreach programs, can work out of hospitals to provide care in underserved communities with social and complex chronic conditions.

Implementing improvements in referral management and demand
Nalani Cox joined Gold Coast Health in 2019 as a Nurse Manager focused on improving referral management processes within the outpatient environment through the implementation of the Clinical Prioritisation Criteria. This work became a focus point for the organisation in 2020 when Nalani led an organisational wide change project introducing Smart Referrals, Refer Your Patient website and HealthPathways which has culminated in her position as the ADON of the Referral Strategy and Performance Department.
