Stefanie Edson is a dedicated Nurse Practitioner specialising in Emergency Care, with a strong commitment to improving patient outcomes. As the Tasmanian State Chapter Secretary for the Australian College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP), Stefanie advocates for the growth and recognition of the Nurse Practitioner profession across Tasmania and beyond.
Before becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Stefanie worked in the COVID-19 Emergency Operations Centre and as the Royal Hobart Hospital After Hours Manager, where she gained valuable experience in managing healthcare operations and patient care during high-pressure situations.
These roles laid the foundation for her leadership skills and passion for emergency care. Stefanie recently completed a Master of Nurse Practitioner at Flinders University, solidifying her expertise in emergency care, leadership, and evidence-based practice. In 2024, she was honoured with the Australian College of Nurses Tour Scholarship, travelling to Türkiye and Greece to expand her global perspective on healthcare practices.
Her professional accomplishments include winning the Poster Competition at the Tasmanian Nursing Symposium and contributing to the 2024 ACNP conference in Cairns. With a focus on innovation and patient care, Stefanie is dedicated to advancing the Nurse Practitioner role and driving excellence in emergency care

Journey of an ICU Nurse on International Nurses Day 2025
Kate Leigh is a clinical nurse at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Intensive Care Unit in Perth, Western Australia, with seven and a half years of experience in intensive care, having started her career in London as a new graduate nurse. Initially focused on haematology, she found herself drawn to ICU after meeting a confident and knowledgeable nurse during a discharge. Inspired by his expertise and assuredness, Kate decided to pursue a transfer to Critical Care after seeing an internal advertisement that highlighted educational opportunities and professional development programs.

Alfred Hospital leading in pharmacy services for critically unwell patients
Cristina Roman, is the Lead Pharmacist at Alfred Emergency Trauma Centre. In her 12 years working in the Emergency Department, Cristina has established pharmacy services, and filled gaps in patient care with new models of care.
One of those models of care adopted by the US and other countries, is involving pharmacists for critically unwell patients that present to the emergency department.
