Stefanie Edson is a dedicated Nurse Practitioner specialising in Emergency Care, with a strong commitment to improving patient outcomes. As the Tasmanian State Chapter Secretary for the Australian College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP), Stefanie advocates for the growth and recognition of the Nurse Practitioner profession across Tasmania and beyond.
Before becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Stefanie worked in the COVID-19 Emergency Operations Centre and as the Royal Hobart Hospital After Hours Manager, where she gained valuable experience in managing healthcare operations and patient care during high-pressure situations.
These roles laid the foundation for her leadership skills and passion for emergency care. Stefanie recently completed a Master of Nurse Practitioner at Flinders University, solidifying her expertise in emergency care, leadership, and evidence-based practice. In 2024, she was honoured with the Australian College of Nurses Tour Scholarship, travelling to Türkiye and Greece to expand her global perspective on healthcare practices.
Her professional accomplishments include winning the Poster Competition at the Tasmanian Nursing Symposium and contributing to the 2024 ACNP conference in Cairns. With a focus on innovation and patient care, Stefanie is dedicated to advancing the Nurse Practitioner role and driving excellence in emergency care

This ANZAC Day 2023, Australian Health Journal releases an interview with Group Captain Kath Stein MACN, Director of Defence Force Nursing with the Royal Australian Air Force.
She talks about many masks, aside from PPE, that leadership and all nurses need to wear. Currently there is work underway on a new capability description on what a nurse brings to every level in the nursing defence structure. The advice Group Captain Stein, imparts for new recruits and those interested in joining Defence Force Nursing is to take every opportunity that arises. This is evident in her progression through her career.

Landmark Australian-led study revises thresholds to diagnose and treat anaemia
In 2014, WEHI researchers began a study at the request of the World Health Organization (WHO), to formally review its global anaemia guidelines that were last updated in 1968.
Study lead and Acting WEHI Deputy Director, Professor Sant-Rayn Pasricha, speaking to Australian Health Journal said while anaemia can be diagnosed by measuring the amount of haemoglobin in the blood, there is currently no consensus on the thresholds that should be used to define the condition. -
Nurse led micro-suction earwax removal service continues success
At the 2024 Telstra Best of Business Awards in February, Earworx was recognised as the National Championing Health Award winner. Lisa Hellwege, the Clinical Director and Founder of Earworx, expressed her gratitude to the entire team and their patients for their trust and support.
